Lost the Rusted Sword's lunge after evolution?

A weapon changing its secondary action is different from mistiming a jump. Demo players report a replacement sword at the merchant that keeps the old moveset.

Check the merchant for the old moveset

Once the Rusted Sword has evolved, return to the Demo's merchant and look for the replacement sword that retains its original moveset. Community replies call it Ancient Sword. Equip that replacement if your goal is to use the old lunge again.

Check the moveset before changing your timing

If the secondary attack changed after evolution, repeating the same Jump timing will not recreate a lunge the equipped weapon no longer performs. The December 2025 lost-lunge question receives a direct suggestion to buy another sword in the shop after evolution.

The original questioner replies that they had not checked the shop. Another reply also points to a sword with the lunge, making the merchant the useful next step.

Restore the action through the replacement

  1. Rusted Sword

The old weapon has the lunge you were using.

  2. Evolution

    Its secondary action changes.

  3. Merchant replacement

Community replies name Ancient Sword as keeping the old moveset.

Community replies describe the merchant replacement as Ancient Sword, with the old Rusted Sword moveset.
  1. If the merchant is not accessible yet, follow the post-Demo shop entrance.
  2. At the merchant, look for the replacement with the old Rusted Sword moveset. A named community reply identifies Ancient Sword.
  3. Equip the replacement and check that its secondary attack is the forward lunge before retrying the jump technique.

Then return to the movement cue

With the lunge available again, use the sword-jump recovery cue and optional controller example. If ordinary attacks are the issue, use attack-bar timing instead.

There is no need to treat a changed moveset as a reason to delete your save or start over. The reported replacement provides a more useful route than following a fixed “never upgrade past this level” rule.

This is the dated Steam PC Demo community solution checked on October 4, 2026. It describes a specific lost-lunge problem, not every weapon's evolution, current merchant prices, or full-game flight.
