Pause before the next swing
Stop rapidly tapping attack and wait for the attack bar to refill before swinging again. To try a charged attack, hold the attack input; that is a different action from waiting between ordinary swings.

Why damage feels low
If the sword barely hurts an enemy, check the bar before adding more swings. In a March 2026 low-damage discussion, players explain that damage depends on how full the stamina bar is and recommend letting it refill.
For a useful starting rhythm, make one attack, watch the bar refill, then attack again. This gives you a clearer baseline than repeatedly attacking as soon as the game lets you.
Waiting and charging are different
Waiting gives the bar time to recover between swings. Charging means keeping the attack input held down. Do not read “wait for a full bar” as “every attack must be charged.”
Wait between swings
Give the attack bar time to refill.
- After a swingBar is low
- WaitNo new swing while it refills
- Attack againWait for the full bar
Hold to charge
Keep the attack input down to charge it.
The continuous line means the button stays down. Waiting without attacking is a separate action.
Try ordinary attacks with a full bar first. Then try holding attack when you have room to compare the behavior. A community discussion about charged attacks describes slower movement while charging, so choose a moment when you have room to commit.
Where the Dagger Belt fits
If you want to add throwing weapons to your early kit, the Dagger Belt pickup at the shoreline wreck has its own illustrated step in the opening route. After collecting it, the game shows a “Throwing Weapons” guide update.
Already have throwing daggers and see a fish in the water? Use the fin-aiming method to bring it close.
If this still does not fit your situation
A full bar is a starting check, not a guarantee that every enemy takes the same damage. The same community replies mention weapon weaknesses and resistances, but do not give a complete enemy-by-enemy chart.
If low health is stopping you, return to a blue crystal and choose Rest. If you need to get out of camp, follow the opening route.
